CASE STUDY: VASSE PRIMARY SCHOOL, WA
Transforming staff and administration spaces to foster staff engagement.
THE BRIEF
Vasse Primary School has grown significantly since it was founded with 12 students in 1969. Now with nearly 800 students, Principal Sinan Kerimofski strives to maintain the sense of belonging and community that the school has always been recognized for.
Mr. Kerimofski has created a number of flexible learning spaces throughout the school, but felt that having a space to encourage effective communication and collaboration was just as relevant for the educators. Working with NorvaNivel, he transformed the staff and administration spaces with amazing results.
THE RESULT
The environment has been widely recognized in the state and across the country because of the emphasis it places on the staff and their wellbeing. Mr. Kerimofski says it has helped staff engagement, but it has also demonstrated how valuable the staff is to the school:

THE PROCESS
With the building of new additions came the opportunity for the refurbishment of the staffroom almost double the size of its former space. Rather than default to an experience of staff crammed into a room, seated on plastic chairs for school meetings, the space was designed to encourage engagement.
Using the same concepts that are used in the classrooms, the staffroom was created with writable surfaces; collaborative spaces such as the CONCLAVE™ Tiered Booth Collection; CLOUDIE™ High Table Collection; the flexible COLLABORATIVE COLLECTIVE™ Track Collection; and a range of soft furnishings.
The space was not only created to be visually appealing for the staff, but highly functional as well, with each area and piece of furniture fulfilling a specific role.
